Signs

Pay attention to all the leaves, the flowers, the birds and the dewdrops. If you can stop and look deeply, you will be able to recognize your beloved one manifesting again and again in different forms. You will again embrace the joy of life.

This world is filled with God’s love and is divinely orchestrated. Once we realize the interconnectedness of all things, we discover gifts from spirit at every turn. Synchronistic events are interwoven throughout the fabric of life. Have you ever received a sign from a deceased loved one? Has nature ever sent you a message of love?

Those who have passed on from this world send signs of hope to let us know they are near. Sometimes beautiful rainbows appear at poignant moments in the grief journey. Butterflies repeatedly hover nearby as symbols of transformation. They gently remind us that our loved ones have not died; they have simply changed form. Perhaps a heart-shaped leaf will mysteriously appear on the ground on a particularly difficult day. Some people frequently find pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. These are all hope-filled messages that whisper, “I am with you. You are not alone.”

Animals sometimes serve as messengers. If a hawk or eagle connection previously existed with the loved one in spirit, that feathered creature may often be seen soaring overhead. For others with a similar connection, the gift might come in the form of feathers. Some bereaved individuals experience baffling power outages during their grief journeys. Lights may flash off and on, or meaningful songs may inexplicably play on their cell phones. Others notice number sequences repeating or uplifting messages on license plates when they need them most. Still others report voicemail messages mysteriously showing up on answering machines after their loved one has died.

This chapter contains nineteen stories describing signs sent from loved ones in spirit. While some signs were subtle, others were more dramatic. Yet each was unique, personal, and significant to the contributor. These signs and gifts from spirit offer hope that life is eternal and love is immortal. The world is filled with mystery and magic from above. It is up to us to recognize the messages of love.
